Enertainment Interview - Russel Brand and Jonathan Ross

This interview is between chat show host, Jonathan Ross, and Comedian Russell Brand. The pair have had previous encounters that have been considered controversial in the public eye before so this would automatically interest viewers into watching in case something like that happens again.

Ross introduces Russel Brand to the show the traditional way, and already you can tell that this interview is definitely going to have elements of comedy to it. Jonathan Ross pokes a little fun at the way Brand looks which shows that they're comfortable talking to each other and being in the company of each other.

They have a little chat about what Russell has been up to that day - it turns out he's been travelling for most of the morning, but takes it well. Brand then introduces Sir David Attenborough into the conversation, complimenting him on being a 'National Treasure' and filling the audience in on how they know each other.

Instead of asking questions outright, first, Ross states things he knows about Russell's life, such as "You are very focused on the spiritual side of your life", he then leads into the question "How much of your time is taken up by these pursuits?" Which usually wouldn't really need a long answer, but Brand being a good interview subject goes into detail and keeps the audience entertained as that is what they expect.

Jonathan is a good host and stays attentive to everything Russell Brand says, and asks questions like "How did that happen?" to show that he is fully listening to everything.

They bring up their past controversial topic and explain what happened to those who may not know, and how it has effected them since. Throughout the interview things are chatty, rather than formal, and everything flows smoothly without any awkwardness or silences to fill.

This interview was purely for entertainment as Russell wasn't there to promote anything, nor was he giving out information on anything.

Justin Bieber with Wild 94.4 - Informative Interview

In this interview, the radio station interviewer asks questions about things that Justin Bieber's fans would like to know, therefore the interview style is informative. They seem to be comfortable with each others presence and the talk flows smoothly between the pair.
Justin seems at ease answering all the questions she asks him, and there are no awkward silences that the interviewer has to fill.

The first thing the interviewer (Nessa) does, is introduce Justin Bieber, and then compliment him on being such a "Sweetheart". She then goes straight into questioning Justin.
The first question she asks ("Whats the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you on tour?") This is an open question which is good to start with as it starts off the conversation and helps with an easy flow for the rest of the time. Whilst Bieber is answering, the interviewer looks interested, often saying things such as "Oh my God" to show she's listening.

Nessa talks as though on behalf of all the Bieber fans, using the word 'we' to describe everyone. This shows she is taking into account that it is the fans that are going to be watching this, therefore they should be thought about.
She makes her questions chatty but clear, so she can find out the answer in a friendly informal way.
Their body language is relaxed, yet still professional, however shows that they're comfortable with each other. They use hand gestures to emphasise their words and put more enthusiasm into the points they're making.

On one of the last questions, Justin Bieber doesn't give a full straight answer, so the interviewer prompts him by saying: "So, what you're saying is..." and then Justin gives a proper reply.

They then end the interview on a jokey note to show all has gone well.

Lindsey Lohan & David Letterman Promotioal Interview Techniques

                                            David Letterman and Lindsey Lohan

In this interview David Letterman is interviewing Lindsey Lohan on her role in the film Scary Movie 5 and other aspects of her life, such as the public’s view of her and rehab.

Letterman starts off by announcing the film and when it is out, and then his guest, Lohan herself. The first thing he says to her is “You look great” which shows him immediately trying to get her on his side.
After this they exchange a few jokes together, and you can tell that they are natural with each other. He asks a few open questions which Lindsey doesn’t really elaborate much on so he goes for the more jokey approach…

The jokes clearly help the tension in the air and Lohan is more open to answering his style of questioning properly. For instance, some of the questions he uses are:
- Do you routinely go around grabbing stuff?
- Aren't you supposed to be in rehab now?
These can be classed as open questions as they are open for the interviewee to discuss and explain what they want.

David Letterman then also wants to hear facts off of her, so uses closed questions to get these answers quickly. Questions include:
- And how long will you be in rehab?
- How many times have you been in rehab?
- What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?

You can see that Lindsey is relucant to talk about her stints in rehab, so the subject is changed momentatily whilst the pair carry on easily joking wih each other. She reads his que sheets, and then decides to take on the role of host herself, answering questions she has seen.

You can also tell that they feel comfortable aound one another because of their easy, relaxed body language. The pair sit back and the talking comes naturally.
Over half way through the interview Letterman finally gets around to discussing the actual promational reason she is on the show where they talk about fellow cast members and what they were like to work with. Everytime Lindey mentioned something Letterman thought could be interesting, he questionned her on it - for instance - when Lindsey says "everyones so funny" (talking about Charlie Sheen), David replies "Did Charlie off to give you some money?" which is complteply unrelated, however makes for a good story.
Towards the end of the interview, David Letterman praises Lohan on her bravery, giving the audience an emotional reaction that they will enjoy seeing from a celebrity.

They then show a clip of the film that she will be starring in to get back on track with the promotional part of the interview.
